THE INCIDENT

I have my account with Std Bank for the past +-20 years. I have bought 5 vehicles through Std Bank during this time. I recently applied for vehicle finance. I was then informed that I was listed on ITC by Peoples Bank. I went to Nedbank and they put me through to their coll. dept in Durban. Eventually, I paid over R8000 that they claimed was owed on a loan account in 2003. I was also double listed on ITC for the same account. I explained that the company that I worked for was supposed to have deducted it from my pension fund as it was used as collateral for the loan then. Since I need a vehicle desperately (mine was written off during an accident in Nov 09), I paid what they claimed. I obtained the paid up letter from them and duly faxed it to Paul at Std Bank. He advised that the letter does not state that it was for Peoples Bank. Nedbank told me that Std Bank should know that they took over Peoples Bank. Eventually, I begged Paul to contact Nedbank, which he did. Today, I am informed that my income does not correspond with my cheq acc details and Paul tells me that I should re-apply after 4 months! I can't believe that this is how Std Bank treat its loyal customers.

Over the moon: Mashudu called me within half an hour of posting the complaint on HP. She dealt with it in a professional, prompt manner. Sceptical at first, I was surprised again when she followed up as promised. Wish my first contact was with someone like her.
